Default Were does illusion fit in a good pve build?

Im planning on starting the game from scratch using a mesmer. Now I know the standard skill set has mostly domination but there are some truly nasty skills in illusion. (clumsiness and soothing images for example)

Were would some of these great illusion skills fit in the standard domination build? What would my skill spread be?

Thanks in advance.

distortion ftw, really great skill with all the physical based damage around as it wastes adrenal skills, sin combos, ranger interupts etc. at the investment of only 3 or 8 illusion magic.

Technically, I don't think Illusion skills will show up in a standard domination build.

You will find Illusion Magic in PvE will be less useful to you near the end of the game. Monsters have too much life and damage from a party will kill monsters faster than the duration of Illusion magic lasts (usually).

Clumsiness has its uses, but Cry of Frustration is better.

Avarre knows how to play a Mesmer, take Avarre's advice.

I tried a Dom/Ill build in aspenwood... the problem

I had no frlippen energy left... .

When you're fighting large mobs and when a couple of monsters run past the tank, a good snare hex would help a little. But blind or something more favourable would be in there first.

Clumsiness, Ineptitude, Sympathetic Visage are all illusion skils that can fit will into a domination build, because dom really doesn't have that great of a PvE elite (power block has it's uses but thats more for pure-dom).

I personally run this for PVE as just a simple not too rough build that lets henchies do all the work:

13 FC, 16 Illusion, 3 res/pet/w/e

Clumsiness
Ineptitude
Images of Remorse
Conjure Phantasm
Epidemic (for Ineptitude's blindness when they clump around)
Ethereal Burden/Kitah's Burden (Energy, I'm not proud of it, but w/e)
Illusion of Weakness
Resurrection Signet/Rebirth/Other Res (Depends on what you're doing, Rebirth for UW/FoW, Res sig for normal is what I do mostly, but if you don't like res sig, take a normal resurrect if you have fast casting.)

Swap it around if youw ant, throw in distortion whatever, I just like dual use skills like Overload and Images of Remose because even if you don't catch what you wanted, you still have something done to them anyway. I don't strategize much for PVE anyway, just plug and chug, it's not like they're players who are going to care if they have diversion on them or if you're energy denialing them, they're going to die in a second or two later anyway.

Illusion: 12+3+1
Domination: 8+1
Inspiration: 7+1
I throw the last point in protection since i use rebirth, doenst affect much though.

Ineptitude
Clumsiness
Conjure Phantasm
Images of Remorse
Phantom Pain
Rebirth
Ether Feast
Energy Tap

I usually find energy not to be much a problem at all on this. Right away i got in order from ineptitude down the line to phantom, then when i cast all my damage spells i use energy tap. When all these are off and the support on your team your enemy wont live long. In PvE everything attacks even your monks so ineptitude and clumsiness are big damage dealers especially when you have items that will boost recharge. I have been using this for quite a while now and ive i cleared the gate (including the enemies on the wall) of abbadons mouth in less then 5 minutes with henchies. This build is very user friendly and is very deadly.

A deep wound skill is always helpful with the degen on high level mobs.

Deep wound is only helpful on the target mob, which is already under heavy attack from the rest of the team.

I just gave this a whirl with the addition of Healing Breeze and Rebirth. I have always played a Domination mesmer, but this was far better. Excellent energy management, and warriors can not handle two major degens on them at one time.

Only thing I altered on the attributes was FC to 9 so I could bump Healing prayers to 5.

I wholeheartedly agree that "Avarre knows how to play a Mesmer, take Avarre's advice."

As a mesmer; do not take healing prayers (in general...very very few exceptions)

Please say why? (please read as sincere question.) If there is a reason, I would like to know so I can improve my build. My current experience is that I can gain faster regen with breeze then the standard mesmer heal.

ty for your response in advance.
